Biography
Jim Chlebecek, an award-winning artist, is a native of Minnesota and a long time resident of Rhode Island, where he owns & operates Rhode Island Glassworks. Of Czech descent, he follows in the long history of Bohemian glassmaking. He takes inspiration from both traditional Venetian and European glassmakers, as well as artists of the modern
American Studio Glass Movement.
His work is shown in galleries in Rhode Island, Maine, and Minnesota and is held in private collections in New York, London, Hartford, and Minneapolis. He is a member of the Glass Art Society, York Art Association, in York Harbor, Maine, Artisans By The Bay and Made In Warren-an Artists Cooperative, in Rhode Island. He began glassblowing through the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, and continues to serve as an assistant to their CE Glassblowing program. He has also studied at The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
